Blankets are a very useful item for our horse, especially on dates and in places where temperatures drop. In the market we can find different types of blankets adapted to different uses:

• Working blankets: they are placed under the saddle and serve to keep the horse's rump and kidneys at an optimal temperature in winter.
• Stable blankets: made of cotton or polyester, they are designed for stabled horses and have a thermal padding of between 100g and 400g to provide thermal protection.
• Outdoor blankets: they are more elastic than the stable blankets, must be waterproof and breathable. In addition, in very cold environments it is necessary that they have a tail protector and a collar cover.
• Summer blankets: they are the lightest and dispense with thermal padding, besides being very breathable to eliminate excess sweat. Their main function is to protect our horse from insects and dust.
• Sweat or drying blankets: these are mesh blankets that allow a better drying of the hair without the horse getting cold after work. They are also used when the horse is going to travel.

Wind and rain are factors that cool our horses and we must protect them in these situations. Therefore, if you are looking for a blanket to protect your horse from the cold, you should consider whether your horse is used to be warm in cold weather because if it is not so may suffer risk of disease. Para to avoid getting too hot, it is advisable to opt for blankets of 200g or 300g.
